I am...
passionate about my work and take great pride in accompanying people on their journeys toward greater mental/emotional health and life fulfillment. It is quite an honor to be with people in their most vulnerable places and be a sounding board for them as they work on their healing and become better human beings. I believe... the relationship of therapy is key. In order for my clients to feel safe enough to open up and face their fears, they need to feel comfortable in my presence, know they won't be judged or told what to do, and trust that I am working for them as an ally. We need to be able to talk about the tough stuff to overcome obstacles and reach your personal goals. No matter what your shape, size, color, preferences, identity... you have the capacity to love and be loved by others, become your best self and have a good life. My experience... is quite varied, as I put in 10 years in the public mental health system. There, I worked with all the major mental illnesses, personality disorders, crisis management, community outreach, day treatment program, individual counseling and leading several groups. After I got licensed, I started my own private practice, which is what I've been doing for over 17 years now, and loving it! My Bachelors and Masters degrees are from Georgia State University, where I earned my MS in Professional Counseling in 2001. I continue to receive continuing education training and seek out peer supervision with colleagues for new perspectives. Take that first step toward improving your mental health. |
